A National Prayer for our Newly Elected Leaders, Unity and Peaceful Transition of Political Power By Rev. Arnedo S. Valera, Esquire

By Rev. Arnedo S. Valera, Esquire

Our Magnificent God, God of Compassion and Mercy, the father of the human family, we give you thanks for the freedom to vote and the democracy we enjoyed in the Philippines and overseas in electing  our National and Local leaders in the Philippines on May 9, 2022;

We lift up our duly elected President Bongbong Marcos, VP Sarah Duterte, legislators and local officials, including those in the military and law enforcement as they will carry an immense responsibility in serving all the people;

Enlighten their minds, inspire them to carry their responsibility and nurture their desire to unify all peoples in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao as they commit themselves to be truly public servants with a vision of peace, truth, justice, creating opportunities and meaningful change in the lives of the Filipino people;

Almighty Father, we pray for divine healing from our differences and give us the bright light and path towards National Unity and reconciliation; give us the eyes and ears to see and hear your voice so that national healing can begin and deep divisions disappear;

You are the divine author of all public and private goods, give the Filipino people and our nation zeal for strength of forbearance, a deep sense of  the spirit of reconciliation so we can work together for the common good;

Lord, we ask for forgiveness for our shortcomings as a nation; purify our hearts to see that we are all brothers and sisters and that we can find common solutions to address the powerlessness of the marginalized and the poor majority especially meeting the basic needs of the Filipino people;

Finally, We pray for those who competed in this National Elections, may those who lost concede with humility, consoled and their hearts be filled with peace so that they may continue to serve the Filipino people in new ways;

And we pray in Jesus name. AMEN
