HIGHLIGHTS OF ROBREDO INTERVIEW BY US AMBASSADOR WISNER IN ASIA SOCIETY NY DEC. 5
1. In a brief offstage interview with former US ambassador to the Philippines and India Frank Wisner after the latter's Q&A dialogue with PH former VP Leni Gerona Robredo in Asia Society in NYC yesterday, the Ambassador told me, "I thought she (Robredo) did a super job tonight."
2. Apparently avoiding a repeat of their experience during Pres. Bongbong Marcos' appearance in Asia Society last Sept. where anti-Marcos rallyists were able to enter their building, Asia Society issued a "By invitation only" announcement of the interview and also, prohibited media coverage during the dialogue. They were successful this time. It was a peaceful and orderly event.
3. The auditorium was 85 percent filled, mostly Filipinos. Some retired Filipino Ambassadors were in the audience, like Amb. Cecilia Rebong and Virgilio Reyes, Jr. Likewise, Fil Am journalists Don Tagala , Lambert Parong and Momar G. Visaya . Leaders of Leni rallies in NJ/NY during the May 2022 election campaign were also present like Hector Fonacier and Flora Fonacier, Paul M. Verzosa and Bobby Young. Eduardo Dela Cruz and Roberto Ticzon are in the PH. Nida Gonzales-Chan has moved residence to Virginia.
4. Ex-VP Robredo was gracious, as always, to exchange "kwentos" with Filipinos in the audience after the interview and had photos and selfies with her taken individually. It was a lively and exciting post interview gathering at the foot of the stage. See some photos below.
