Some of the Malcolm X 5th grade students welcome Sentro Rizal DC to their school. The Sentro Rizal of the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC is paired with a 5th grade class from Malcolm X Elementary School for the Embassy Adoption Program (EAP) SY 2023-2024. The EAP is a partnership program between embassies in DC, DC Public Schools (DCPS), and the Washington Performing Arts that allows 5th and 6th grade students the unique opportunity to expand their global awareness through direct interactions with diplomats from around the world.
For the first session of this school year, the class had a brief introduction about the Philippines and Filipino culture, followed by a parol ornament making activity to delve into Filipino Christmas traditions.
