On Sunday, June 2, members of the Beta Sigma Fraternity and Sigma Beta Sorority New York chapter with friends and family members marched along Madison Avenue in Manhattan along with many other Filipino organizations, in honor of the 126th Year anniversary of Philippine Independence.

For the past 34 years the commemoration in the city has been made possible by the Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc with the cooperation of the Philippine Consulate General in New York.
US Senator Chuck Schumer of New York joined other dignitaries from the Philippines and Filipino American elected officials at the ribbon cutting line to start the parade that was led by Consul General Senen Mangalile of the Philippine Consulate and Arman David, current president of PIDCI.
The annual Independence day anniversary in Manhattan has been reported to be the largest celebration of its kind outside the Philippines.
