The Borough of Bergenfield is Designated as a Healthy Town by the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute! 

It is with great pride that I announce the Borough of Bergenfield has been officially designated as a Healthy Town by the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute (NJHCQI) in recognition of our Bergenfield Mayor’s Wellness Campaign (MWC).

This achievement reflects the resilience and dedication of our community. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 tested us in ways we never imagined—resources were scarce, priorities shifted, and our residents faced unprecedented challenges. Yet, through it all, we remained steadfast in our commitment to promoting health and well-being, recognizing that both physical and mental wellness were more important than ever.

With the encouragement and guidance of NJHCQI, we came back even stronger in 2022 and 2023, earning the distinction of Healthy Town to Watch. We expanded our initiatives, deepened resident engagement, and strengthened our commitment to creating a healthier community.

Now, in 2025, our efforts have come to full realization. Bergenfield has been officially recognized as a Healthy Town in the State of New Jersey—a testament to the dedication of our MWC Champions: FL Ilya, PHN Liz, PIO AJ, SFC Maryann, Rec Ed, Adm Corey, Council, DPW, BPD, all borough staff, committees, volunteers, activity instructors and financial sponsors, and most importantly, our residents, who have embraced health and well-being as a shared priority.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to NJHCQI for their invaluable guidance and support. Additionally, we were honored to have been chosen to present our MWC best practices at the New Jersey League of Municipalities, where we proudly showcased our work to communities across the state last November. 

We could not have achieved this without you. This recognition belongs to all of us. Together, we will continue to build a healthier, stronger #Bergenfield.
